What assessment considers
The onset, distribution and course of loss matter, along with medical history, medicines and styling habits. Examination guides whether tests or assessment by other professionals are needed. There is no single testing package for everyone.
Different causes, different decisions
Androgenetic alopecia involves patterned follicle miniaturization. Alopecia areata is autoimmune and may cause patches. Telogen effluvium can cause diffuse shedding after triggers. Repeated tension from hairstyles may contribute to traction alopecia. These are distinct conditions, not interchangeable diagnoses.
Medical care or transplantation
A plan may address the cause, preserve existing hair or assess surgical restoration in selected cases. Active areata, inflammation and diffuse shedding should not automatically be approached as graft problems. Individual assessment determines suitability.
When to seek prompt care
New patches, pain, redness, marked scaling or rapid worsening warrant medical attention rather than waiting for an aesthetic appointment. Do not start medicines or change treatment solely on the basis of this information.
